When someone asks do you want to spend the weekend behind the scenes watching Zack Arias, Gregory Heisler, David Hobby, and Joe McNally in action, you say YES. A resounding YES. In a heartbeat. With bells on.
Gulf Photo Plus, after their popups in London (2013) and Singapore (2014), came to Seattle for 2015. For two days, September 19 & 20, Meydenbauer Center was taken over by hundreds of professional photographers and enthusiasts from all over the country.
Since this series is targeted towards the working professionals and the very serious enthusiasts, there is little next to no talk about the technical execution and no one tried to sell anyone any newest and latest gear. None of that.
We were very clearly getting an insight into how these veterans of the industry think and work. And work they do. Hard. Relentlessly.
Here are some behind the scenes photos of some of us working with GPP. Hopefully I’ll get to go to Dubai for their annual convention one of these days.
Quick Gathering the night before the big day, with the speakers, David Hobby, Joe McNally, Zack Arias, and Gregory Heisler.
Greg Heisler doing test shots, dialing things in, with Tuffer and Jeremy Center.
My admiring Zack’s beard, and a quick photo with David Hobby (the Strobist) at the clean up.
Here is Paul Gibbons being a human smoke machine for Joe McNally for a shot.
Profoto was one of the big sponsors for the event.
